Betting on NFL Football - AFC Preseason QB Derby

Betting on NFL football this preseason, as always, will include factoring in the quarterback equation against the football odds as several teams will have heated battles.

Betting on NFL football in the preseason with the New York Jets would epitomize this handicapping factor against the football odds.  The Jets have three legitimate candidates that will be competing for the starting quarterback job that must be considered when betting on NFL football preseason games with them.

Mark Sanchez, Eric Ainge, and Kellen Clemens will all see plenty of action this summer against the football odds.  The Oakland Raiders are another team that looks to be having a serious quarterback battle going for those betting on NFL football this preseason.

JaMarcus Russell, last year’s starter for Oakland, will be facing a stiff challenge from Jeff Garcia.  This will be a significant handicapping factor for those betting on NFL football this preseason.  Garcia arrived in the off season from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and could significantly improve Oakland’s appeal to those betting on NFL football.

The Cleveland Browns will also have quite a quarterback battle brewing this preseason between Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson.  Quinn was the early starter last season but Anderson held the job for most of the season after Quinn faltered for those betting on NFL football with the Browns last year.

While Quinn is currently listed as number one on the depth chart Anderson is not expected to go away quietly.

Carson Palmer is listed as the starting quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals for those betting on NFL football this preseason but JT O’Sullivan is expected to get a lot of snaps as well for the Bengals, who have to set a positive tone this preseason.

Palmer has not developed into the dominant quarterback that he was expected to be by those betting on NFL football and needs a strong preseason to build up his confidence.  If he falters he could be looking over his shoulder soon as head coach Marvin Lewis is under heavy fire.
