2015 NFL Week 3 – Philadelphia vs. New York Jets

The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets have gone in different directions from what so many people had expected. The Eagles lost both of their games to start the season while the Jets have won both of theirs. This has led to the Jets being a -1 favorite with Sports-Gambling to win this coming game in East Rutherford. This technically makes it a straight-up game at this point with the Jets just barely being favored.

Looking At the Jets

The biggest part of the New York Jets is that they have allowed only seventeen points in their first two games with Cleveland and Indianapolis. Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell have both been strong running backs for the Jets as well. They both have fifty or more rushing yards per game so far this year.

The Jets have also proven to be a good defensive team in terms of forcing turnovers. The Jets have recovered six fumbles and gotten four interceptions already this year. The Jets are aiming to become a stronger team while also proving their critics wrong while competing in the AFC East even with a new coach coming into the fray for this team.

What About the Eagles?

Chip Kelly’s offense had been promoted as being one of the strongest in the NFL. The acquisition of DeMarco Murray from Dallas this offseason was especially supposed to help the Eagles big time. However, the Eagles’ offense has yet to really wake up this year.

Murray has pretty much been shut down so far this season. He has only eleven rushing yards in two games so far this year. He does have a touchdown though.

Meanwhile, Sam Bradford has 560 passing yards in his attempt to make a comeback but he has four interceptions and two touchdowns. Still, the Eagles’ two losses were relatively close games against Atlanta and Dallas but they are still substantial losses as they are against teams that they had been somewhat favored to win this year. The fact that the Eagles are struggling in a division that the Dallas Cowboys look strong in while the Washington Redskins could be more competitive in as well only hurts the team even further.

The struggles of the Philadelphia Eagles have been very evident this year and shows that the team is really struggling. Still, there is a real potential for the Eagles to make a comeback against the New York Jets although the Jets have particularly been very strong and efficient.
