2009 NFL Mock Draft on Quarterbacks at Sports Gambling

2009 NFL mock draft preparation begins with quarterbacks, especially with this year as NFL draft betting action is expected to begin with a signal caller.

2009 NFL mock draft projections have Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford going first in the NFL draft betting rotation to the Detroit Lions.  While Stafford may be the first quarterback slotted in the 2009 NFL mock draft he is far from alone as this is expected to be one of the better years for QB’s in recent NFL draft betting history.

Stafford enters the 2009 NFL mock draft as the highest rated quarterback due to his phenomenal credentials at Georgia.  Stafford had an eye-popping 153.54 quarterback rating last year as he passed for 3459 yards and 25 touchdowns.  He is liked for his ability, size, and durability.

He is giving up his senior season for the 2009 NFL mock draft.  The second ranked quarterback for the 2009 NFL mock draft is Southern Cal’s Mark Sanchez, who came out early as well; much to the consternation of Trojan coach Pete Carroll.

Sanchez had an even better QB rating than Stafford last year with a 164.64 as he threw for 3207 yards and 34 touchdowns.  A point of concern for the 2009 NFL mock draft, however, is that Sanchez had only 16 college starts for his career.  The third ranked quarterback for the 2009 NFL mock draft is Josh Freeman of Kansas State.

Freeman began as a true freshman in 2006 and, like Stafford and Sanchez, is coming out one year early.  Last year Freeman had a 136.48 QB rating with 2945 yards and 20 touchdowns.  Freeman brings his share of concerns to 2009 NFL mock draft fans due to his inconsistent play throughout his K-State career.

Brian Hoyer of Michigan State is the 4th ranked quarterback.  A significant notch below Stafford and Sanchez, Hoyer is known for his steady leadership and character.  He had a 111.51 QB rating for 2008 along with 2404 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Sam Houston State’s Rhett Bomar rounds out the top 5 signal callers.

If his name sounds familiar it should as he was an Oklahoma Sooner before being dismissed in 2006 due to scandal involving a car dealer.
