Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines Betting Odds and Preview

Wisconsin is a surprising Sports Gambling underdog at Michigan in Saturday night’s feature game.  Yet there is more to the line than meets the eye.  First, the Badgers defense has dropped significantly since last year.  Indeed, graduation and injuries have made the lineup vastly different from the 2017 record setting unit.  Additionally, quality depth is lacking, especially in the secondary.  Michigan on the other hand is building momentum.  Specifically, the Wolverines boast one of the nation’s top defenses.  While on offense quarterback Shea Patterson looks like the long-sought answer.  Coach Jim Harbaugh’s rebuild is finally taking shape.

Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin has a Gambling on Sports record of 4-1 straight up but 1-4 vs. the line.  In short, their reliability on the board has dropped because of their defensive problems.  Last week the Badgers failed to cover a 41-24 home win over Nebraska.  UW has gone over the total in three of their last four games.  Most of all the Badgers national ranking of 40th on defense is cause for worry.  In comparison to last year it’s a noticeable decline.  Offensively Wisconsin ranks 27th nationally and fourth for rushing yardage.

Important Names to Consider

Accordingly, Jonathan Taylor leads UW with 849 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.  Taylor is averaging 6.7 yards per carry.  Namely he plays behind one of the best, deepest and most experienced lines in America.  Quarterback Alex Hornibrook has shown great improvement for Wisconsin.  To illuminate he has a 151.7 rating with seven touchdowns and only two interceptions.

Michigan Wolverines

Meanwhile Michigan has a Gambling on NCAAF record of 5-1 straight up and 3-3 against the spread.  The Wolverines have split their six games on totals.  At last week’s tilt UM covered a 42-21 home win over Maryland.  Michigan ranks 30th in college football for scoring offense.  Most important of all the Wolverines have the nation’s top ranked defense.  Along the same lines is the improved play at quarterback.  Patterson has a 160.7 rating with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions.  Further, running back Karan Higdon is averaging 5.8 yards per carry with five touchdowns.

Donovan Peoples Jones

Cause by Donovan Peoples Jones does Michigan have a dangerous game breaker.  Jones is a dynamic punt returner and receiver.  Along the same lines Peoples Jones can be deadly on the jet sweep.   His speed could prove to be the difference against the thin Wisconsin defense.

Team vs. Team

Fashion Wisconsin’s dominance of this head to head series.  First, Michigan has paid in just one of their last 11 meetings with the Badgers.  The last two meetings have gone under the total.  Last year Wisconsin scored a 24-10 home payout over the Wolverines.

Matchup to Watch

Despite their defensive woes the Badgers are a consistently strong Gambling on Sports road dog.  To show Wisconsin has covered five of their last seven getting points on the road.  So too does the Badgers ground game give them a path towards keeping their defense off the field.  In brief this is a big number against a solid UW team.  Indeed, a bet on the Badgers fades the public.
