The Syracuse Orange will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at a neutral site this weekend. The game will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This is not an ACC conference game in spite of how Notre Dame has a strong deal to play many ACC teams in football in the future. Notre Dame is an ACC member in every other sport though; it is still independent from a football perspective.
The two sides have competed three times since 2003. The Orange have won twice with the last coming in 2008 when they edged out the Irish for a 24-23 win.
However, the trends do not look all that strong for the Orange as the team is coming off of a big loss. They were favored by -1.5 to beat Maryland but lost that game at home 34-20. The game was also a push in terms of the point total as the over/under was listed at 54. The Orange have won ATS in their last five neutral site games. They have also gone 7-1-1 ATS in their last few games after they have lost ATS.
Notre Dame has won eight of their last ten games straight up. They beat Purdue last week in Indianapolis 30-14 but this was well under the set spread. The Irish was favored to have won that game with a -30 line. The Irish have gone under the point total in fifteen of their last eighteen games with ACC opponents. Also, they have won just one of their last seven games ATS on field turf surfaces like the one used at MetLife Stadium.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are favored to win this game with the Syracuse Orange. The Irish are -9.5 favorites to win this game. The over/under is listed at 48 points for the whole game. Bets for the straight up winner are also available in some places with Syracuse going at +270 while Notre Dame is listed at -370 in a majority of places.
