After a 1-3 straight up start to their season the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have won their last 3 NCAA football gambling matchups straight up and have an overall record of 4-3 with a mark of 2-3-2 against the spread. The Irish have gone under the total in 5 out of their 7 games this year.
Last week Notre Dame scored their second consecutive push with a 44-20 win over Western Michigan as 24 point favorites. Quarterback Dayne Crist continues to improve under new coach Brian Kelly’s system and has a 59% completion rate with a 7.1 yards per attempt average and a strong 14/5 touchdown/interception ratio.
The much maligned defense ranks a surprising 54th for points allowed as it is evolving into a bend but don’t break unit. Notre Dame ranks 41st against the rush which bodes well against the Navy option.
The Midshipmen of Navy have won 2 straight games to post an overall NCAA football wagering record of 4-2 straight up and 3-3 against the spread. Navy has gone under the total in 4 games this year. The Midshipmen have the 9th ranked rushing attack in the country and rank a surprising 22nd in the country for points allowed.
Quarterback Ricky Dobbs springs the Naval attack with a team best 379 yards rushing with Vince Murray right behind at 283 yards and 5.2 yards per carry average. A total of 4 Midshipmen have over 225 yards rushing this year. Navy beat SMU last week 28-21 in an impressive win.
Notre Dame is picking up momentum and is looking to avenge a 23-21 home loss to the Midshipmen last year. Navy is improving but seems to lack the explosiveness of past years.
