Auburn is ranked 4th in the BCS standings while LSU ranks 6th.  The winner will have the inside track of upending Alabama in the West Division as well as being in excellent position for the BCS Championship.

It hasn’t always been pretty and there have been some amazing close calls but LSU enters this one with a record of 7-0 straight up and 3-4 against the spread.  The Tigers are coming off a 32-10 home win over McNeese State and have gone under the NCAA football gambling total 5 out of 7 times.

The strength of LSU is defense as they rank 3rd in the country and will face their biggest challenge and test of the season against explosive Cam Newton and Auburn.  Running back Steven Ridley is emerging as an important weapon with 687 yards and a 4.9 yards per carry average.

Jordan Jefferson is the running quarterback while Jarrett Lee is the passing signal caller as LSU continues to alternate them.  Kicker Josh Jasper is a Groza Award candidate and one of the most deadly accurate in the game.  He could prove to be an ace for LSU in this one.

Auburn has a NCAA football wagering record of 7-0 straight up and 4-3 against the spread.  Newton has emerged as a Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback with a 66% completion rate and a 10.5 yards per attempt average with a 13/5 touchdown/interception ratio.

Newton also leads Auburn in rushing with 860 yards and a 6.1 yards per carry average with 12 touchdowns.  Auburn’s defense ranks 108th against the pass, but 15th against the rush, which matches up well against LSU.  Auburn is 6th in the nation for scoring.

This matchup is one of the best and most challenging of the season with the LSU defense and special teams going up against the spectacular Cam Newton.
