NCAA football gambling respect is returning to the Florida State Seminoles as they will have returned to prominence as a NCAA football wagering contender.
The #22 Florida State Seminoles will host the Florida Gators with a telecast on ABC set for 12:05 PM ET. Sports-Gambling opened with Florida State as a 2.5 point favorite.
Florida State has a college football betting record of 8-3 straight up and 6-5 against the spread with 7 of their games going under the total. The Seminoles are coming off a 30-16 payout at Maryland which clinched them at least a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division title.
The Seminoles rank 37th for scoring offense and a much improved 15th for scoring defense. The Seminoles have a powerful ground attack led by Chris Thompson, Jermaine Thomas, and Ty Jones who are all well above 5.5 yards per carry. Christian Ponder has passed for 1817 yards and a 17/8 touchdown/interception ratio.
The Florida Gators have been one of the biggest surprises in college football gambling but for all the wrong reasons as they have gone from a top 5 powerhouse program to an also ran in the Southeastern Conference with a record of 7-4 straight up and 6-5 against the spread with 6 of their games going under the total.
Florida’s offense has never caught on this year and has not been able to replace departed superstar quarterback Tim Tebow. The defense has been solid and ranks 10th in the nation.
John Brantley has struggled at quarterback and coach Urban Meyer has employed Jordan Reed and Trey Burton at the position as well with nobody proving worthy of the full time gig. Brantley was supposed to be a superior pocket passer but that has not panned out. Burton is more of a Tebow type in that he is an effective runner.
The Gators will likely try and sort out the QB position as the prep for a minor bowl after this matchup.
The favorite has paid out in 10 of the last 12 meetings between these two teams with Florida State covering 5 of their last 7 NCAA football gambling matchups at home versus Florida.
