NCAA football gambling respect remains with the Southern Miss Eagles as they are one of the most consistent bowl programs in the nation with the NCAA odds.

Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL is the venue for the Beef O’Brady St. Petersburg Bowl and a matchup of the Louisville Cardinals and Southern Miss Eagles.  The game will be telecast on ESPN on Tuesday, December 21 with a starting time of 8 PM ET.

The Beef O’Brady’s St. Petersburg Bowl odds opened at Sports Gambling with Louisville as a 3.5 point favorite.

Louisville has a record of 6-6 both straight up and with the college football odds.  The Cardinals finished 3-4 in Big East Conference action and had an even 6-6 split on totals.

Louisville clinched bowl eligibility with a 40-13 payout at Rutgers as Strong has instilled a much tougher and hard playing attitude with the left over players of the Steve Kragthorpe regime.

Strong was the defensive coordinator at Florida for their national title teams and that was reflected in Louisville’s ranking of 10th in the nation for total defense.

The offense was inconsistent although the ground game was solid led by Bilal Powell’s 1330 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Quarterback Adam Froman is questionable for this game with a leg problem.

Southern Miss has a NCAA football wagering record of 8-4 straight up and 6-6 against the spread with 9 of their games going over the total.  The Eagles finished 2nd to Central Florida in Conference USA’s East Division.  Southern Miss is coming off an exciting but tough loss at Tulsa in a 50-56 shootout that snapped a 3 game winning streak.

That results did not help the Eagle’s poor defensive rank of 81st for points allowed.  The offense, on the other hand, is one of the top units in the country as it ranks 15th for points scored and is well balanced.  Quarterback Austin Davis passed for 2898 yards and Kendrick Hardy rushed for 855 yards.

Louisville and Southern Miss are old rivals from the Cardinals days in CUSA.  Louisville has gotten the money in their last 5 consecutive NCAA football gambling matchups against Southern Miss and has paid out in 12 of their last 13 against CUSA.
