NCAA Football Betting - Tide Opens at Number One

NCAA football betting handicappers are getting excited about the upcoming start to the 2010 college football gambling season which begins on September 2.

NCAA football betting fans will again have the Alabama Crimson Tide as one of the college football gambling favorites to win the BCS championship.

Alabama was ranked number one in the USA Today preseason top 25 poll and was also the favorite at Sports-Gambling.com to win the BCS National Championship with an opening price of +350.  Alabama will have a talented but vastly inexperienced defense that they must get up to speed if they are to win that second consecutive title.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, fresh off a Rose Bowl win and 15 starters returning led by quarterback Terrelle Pryor were ranked 2nd in the USA today poll.

Alabama’s top Southeastern Conference rival Florida was ranked 3rd.  Much like Alabama, the Gators will be reloading, particularly on offense, as 3-year starting quarterback Tim Tebow has moved on to the NFL to headline significant graduation losses on offense.

Texas is another team that will be looking to reload as Colt McCoy has also moved on to the NFL after starting 4 years as the Longhorns quarterback which highlights an inexperienced offense.  Texas was ranked 4th in the USA Today poll.

The Boise State Broncos ranked 5th in the preseason poll as a legitimate BCS contender from the non-BCS Western Athletic Conference.  The Broncos will no longer have the element of surprise, however, which could harm their overall board value with the NCAA odds.

Boise State’s opening game in Washington, DC against the Virginia Tech Hokies will determine their season as far as the BCS race goes.

Rounding out the USA Today top 10 in order was 6-Virginia Tech, 7-Texas Christian University, 8-Oklahoma, 9-Nebraska, and 10-Iowa.

Oklahoma could be a solid value with the college football lines as they have a more experienced team and quarterback along with a more favorable schedule than Texas.

Nebraska will be playing their final season in the Big 12 before moving on to the Big Ten next year and is expected to win the North Division, which will put them in the conference title game.

TCU of the Mountain West Conference is another non-BCS team with an outstanding shot at the BCS title game.

Iowa is yet another potentially strong NCAA football betting value as they have a favorable schedule and a roster loaded with experience.
