NCAA football betting handicappers always respect the East Carolina Pirates as a team that can beat the NCAA football odds against anyone on the board.

The Military Bowl presented by Northrop will take place at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC on Wednesday, December 29 as the East Carolina Pirates will matchup with the Maryland Terrapins.  Sports Gambling opened with Military Bowl odds of Maryland as a 7.5 point favorite.  ESPN will telecast the game with a starting time of 2:30 PM ET.

Maryland has a NCAA football gambling record of 8-4 both straight up and against the spread with just 4 of their games going under the total.  The Terps finished in a tie for 2nd place in the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division with North Carolina State, who they beat in their season finale 38-31.

Maryland’s offense is led by Danny O’Brien who has 2257 yards passing and a 21/6 TD/INT ratio.  The backfield tandem of Davin Meggett and Da’Rel Scott combined for over 1100 yards rushing.

Torrey Smith had 1045 yards receiving good for 16.1 yards per catch and 12 touchdowns.  Maryland finished 38th in the nation on defense for points against.

East Carolina has a record of 6-6 both straight up and with the NCAA football odds with 9 of their games going over the total.  The Pirates are limping into this one after losing their final two games of the season at Rice and then at home in overtime against SMU.

East Carolina has a dangerous offense that ranks 12th in the country for scoring but the defense was a disaster and ranks 118th for points against.  Dominique Davis passed for 3687 yards and a fabulous 36/14 TD/INT ratio while Dwayne Harris had 1055 yards receiving and10 TD’s while Lance Lewis had 979 yards receiving and 13 TD’s.

Jonathan Williams added 846 yards rushing with a 5.5 yards per carry average and 10 touchdowns.

Maryland has a significant NCAA football betting edge with their defense but they will face a supreme test against the lethal Pirate attack.  The Maryland offense was inconsistent and lethargic at times so if East Carolina can bring any defense at all they have a shot to get the money.
