NCAA betting odds excitement and respect is returning to the West Virginia Mountaineers as they are a resurgent commodity with the NCAA betting lines.

The #24 West Virginia Mountaineers will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday with a telecast set for ESPN2 at noon ET.  West Virginia opened at Sports-Gambling as a 20 point favorite.

Rutgers has a college football betting record of 4-7 straight up and just 2-9 against the spread with 7 of their games going over the total.  The Scarlet Knights are have lost 5 games in a row and are coming off a 40-13 home loss to Louisville which killed off their hopes of a 6th consecutive bowl bid.

As it is the program has shown erosion under coach Greg Schiano since their epic 2006 season and fans are beginning to grumble.  For many fans and handicappers, the season ended with Rutgers last win on October 16 over Army when Eric LeGrand suffered a tragic injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Rutgers has not put together a credible offense as they rank 107th in the nation whole the defense ranks in the middle of the pack for all meaningful categories.

West Virginia has a college football gambling record of 8-3 straight up and 7-4 against the spread with 7 of their games going under the total.  The Mounties reached rock bottom with a 16-13 overtime loss at Connecticut but have won their last 3 games since that defeat.

West Virginia is coming off a 35-10 blowout win at Pitt to climb into a tie with UConn for first place in the Big East Conference.  The Mounties have one of the best defenses in the country as they rank 3rd overall and 2nd for points allowed, which matches up perfectly against the putrid Rutgers offense.

The offense has been inconsistent but has shown more of a spark during the win streak as Geno Smith has 2215 yards passing with a 22/6 TD/INT ratio and Noel Devine has 855 yards rushing.

The road team has beaten the NCAA betting odds in the last 5 consecutive matchups in this series and the dog has paid out in 5 of the last 7 between these two teams.
