College Football Betting Hokie Pokey at Sports Gambling Sportsbook

College football betting was hard on Virginia Tech Hokies. After posting a NCAA football betting double digit straight up win seasons.

The Hokies took a moderate college football betting step back and went from great to merely good as; beginning in they posted straight up college football betting records of 8-3, 9-4, and 8-4 while breaking even overall in those three seasons against the NCAA football betting lines.

While the Hokies were still winning and bowling every college football betting season, it was just as obvious that they were not dominating and frightening opponents as they had done in 1999-2000 and in several other college football betting seasons prior. Worse yet, from a NCAA football betting perspective, Virginia Tech was not playing at a “name brand” or traditional power type level but still commanded “name brand” traditional power prices on the board.

By 2004, however, this began to change as many members of the college football betting fraternity wrote off the Hokies as “has beens” as far as being true national title contenders and top ten material. Virginia Tech, it was written and said, couldn't handle the jump from the Big East to the Atlantic Coast Conference and that they would have to settle for being a good 8-win a season type of program. With their NCAA college football betting value being restored based on such attitudes, the Hokies rebounded in 2004 with an 11-2 straight up, and 9-3 against the spread record which included an ACC title and a Sugar Bowl loss/cover against undefeated Auburn. The highlight of the season was when the Hokies upset Miami 16-10 as 7-point road dogs in the season finale, with the ACC title on the line and a classic demonstration of their superior value on the college football betting board.

Tech picked up where they left off in 2005 as they started off 8-0 straight up and 7-1 against the spread as they entered a home showdown with ACC power Miami, who was seeking revenge for that upset loss in 2004. Miami was being written off by the masses and babbling baboons at ESPN but upset the Hokies 27-7 as 6-point dogs. Virginia Tech responded with back-to-back wins and covers before incredibly losing the ACC title game to reeling Florida State 22-27 as 14.5-point chalks. The Miami college football betting game was a warning and lesson that should have been applied in this game about the dangers of kicking a proud dog when its down.
