College football gambling fans saw the Texas Longhorns make a major statement last week in their NCAA football gambling payout at Texas Tech.

#7 Texas will host UCLA on Saturday.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM Eastern and the game will be telecast on ABC.  Texas opened as a 15.5-point favorite at Sports-Gambling.

UCLA had an impressive rebound with the college football odds last week in a 31-13 home win over #23 Houston as 3.5-point home dogs to get their first win and payout of the season after previously losing at Kansas State 31-22 and then in their home and Pac 10 opener against Stanford 35-0.

The Stanford loss was shocking as it led handicappers to believe that head coach Rick Neuheisel had not made significant progress in his 3 years on the job.  Quarterback Kevin Prince showed progress after a terrible start to the season in the Bruins losses as had 156 total yards and 2 touchdowns against Houston.

The sophomore signal caller has been under heavy fire in Westwood as he ranked dead last in the country for QB ratings after his first 2 starts.  The defense held the explosive Houston attack to 200 yards less than it’s per game average.

Texas scored a 24-14 win as 3-point favorites at hostile arch rival Texas Tech to improve to 3-0 straight up and 1-2 with the college football lines.

The Longhorns rank 2nd in the nation for total defense, which has been important in allowing the inexperienced offense time to jell.  The Longhorns shut down the explosive Tech passing attack as they held the Red Raiders to 144 yards, their worst output in 20 years.

UCLA has won and covered the last 2 college football gambling matchups in this series.  The two teams have not met since 1998.  UCLA has covered 3 out of their last 5 road games with 3 of those games going over the total.

The Bruins have covered just 4 out of their last 15 games as dogs with 7 failures in their last 9 as pups with just 2 of those games going over the total.  Texas has gotten the money in just 6 out of their last 17 games as a favorite with 4 failures in their last 5 and 4 of those games going under the total.
