College football gambling handicappers saw Sparty win a share of the Big Ten title and provide many thrilling moments for the 2010 NCAA football gambling season.
The Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL will host the Capital One Bowl between the #9 Michigan State Spartans and the #16 Alabama Crimson Tide. ESPN will telecast the matchup on New Year’s Day with a start time of 1 PM ET. Sports Gambling opened with Capital One Bowl odds of Alabama as a 10 point favorite and with a total of 52.
Michigan State has a record of 11-1 straight up and 7-5 with the NCAA odds as they went under the total in 7 games. The Spartans ended their season with a 28-22 win at Penn State as coach Mark Dantonio’s 4th season at the helm proved to be the biggest for the program since the mid 1960’s.
The Spartans proved to be a well balanced and consistent team on both sides of the line and were led by quarterback Kirk Cousins, who passed for 2705 yards and a 29/9 TD/INT ratio. Edwin Baker rushed for 1187 yards and 13 TD’s.
Alabama fell far short of preseason expectations with the NCAA football lines as they were a near consensus pick to repeat as national champions but instead finished with a record of 9-3 straight up and 7-5 against the spread with just 4 of their games going over the total.
Bama’s season could not have ended any worse as they blew a 24-0 home lead to Auburn in a 28-27 loss that will never be forgotten. The Tide finished 4th in the Southeastern Conference West Division. Bama still has a rock ribbed defense that ranked 5th in the nation for points allowed but the offense was inconsistent and ranked 27th overall.
Michigan State has paid out in 5 of their last 6 college football gambling matchups versus teams with a winning record but has gotten the money in just 3 of their last 11 games as a dog. Alabama has covered 5 consecutive non conference games but is just 1-4 against the number versus teams with a winning record and just 2-9 against the spread following a straight up loss.
