College Football Gambling - Auburn at Mississippi State

College football gambling excitement begins with an ESPN Thursday night matchup of SEC teams coming off impressive NCAA football gambling openers.

College football gambling expectations are continuing to grow for both Auburn and Mississippi State as likely NCAA football gambling bowl teams.

Kickoff Thursday is set for 7:50 PM Eastern and Sports-Gambling.com opened with Auburn as a 2.5-point favorite.

Auburn cruised to a 52-26 win over Arkansas State last week but failed to beat the NCAA betting odds as 31.5-point home favorites as the game went over the total of 52.5.  Junior quarterback Cam Newton set a school record for QB’s with 171 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns while also passing for 186 yards and 3 TD’s.

Auburn’s rush defense was air tight but the pass defense was lit up for 323 yards and remains a top concern although it improved in the 2nd half.  “The second half defensively, we got a little better feel for what they were doing,” said head coach Gene Chizik.

Mississippi State covered the NCAA betting lines with ease last week in a 49-7 home win over Memphis as 21.5-point chalks as the game also went over 47.  Redshirt freshman QB Tyler Russell was sensational as he went 13-16 for 256 yards and 4 TD’s.  Russell was not named the starter until 2 nights before the game.

He was a high school Parade All American and highly touted.  A pair of sophomores were Russell’s top receivers as Brandon Heavens had 112 yards and 2 TD’s while Chad Bumphis had 100 yards and also 2 TD’s.

Head coach Dan Mullen begins his second season with his team off and running as they demonstrated that the improvement shown last year is likely to continue.  Mullen was impressed with his new signal caller.  “I thought Tyler was going to come out and perform.  He put up some good numbers and played with confidence,” said the coach.

In last year’s college football gambling matchup between these two teams Auburn scored an easy 49-24 win and cover as 15-point home favorites as the game soared over the total of 46.5.  Prior to that matchup the series had gone under the total in the 4 previous meetings.

Auburn has gone 3-1 both straight up and against the spread in the last 4 matchups with Mississippi State and has gone 4-0 straight up and 3-1 against the spread in their last 4 trips to Starkville.
