College football betting value has been better than expected for the California Golden Bears as they have proven to be a potentially dangerous college football gambling commodity.

The Cal Bears will host the #6 Stanford Cardinal in what is known as “The Game” in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Fox Sports Net will telecast the matchup with a starting time of 3:30 PM Eastern Time.  Sports-Gambling opened with Stanford as a 7 point favorite.

The Stanford Cardinal has a record of 9-1 straight up and 5-4-1 with the NCAA betting odds as 6 of their games have gone over the total.  Stanford has lost just 1 of 5 road games against the spread and that was at #1 Oregon.  The Cardinal has gone under the total in 4 of 5 road games.

Stanford escaped with a hard fought 17-13 win/push at Arizona State last week.  The Cardinal ranks 9th for points scored while ranking 28th for points allowed.  Quarterback Andrew Luck has pro scouts drooling as he has completed 70% of his passes for 2505 yards and a 22/7 touchdown/interception ratio.

Luck is also 2nd behind Steven Taylor with 373 yards rushing and an 8.1 yards per carry average.  Taylor has 849 yards with 11 touchdowns.

The Cal Bears are 5-5 straight up and 6-4 with the NCAA betting lines.  The Bears have paid out in all 5 of their home games with 3 of the 5 games going over the total.

Cal is coming off a hard fought and bitter 15-13 home loss to Oregon and handicappers will question whether or not they can get off the mat for this one, despite Stanford being Cal’s traditional arch rival.  Cal must win 1 of their final 2 games to assure bowl eligibility.

The Bears rank 86th overall on offense but an impressive 10th overall for defense.  The defensive performance against explosive Oregon should garner plenty of attention and respect and is likely what can keep the Bears in this game.

Stanford has paid out in just 2 of their last 9 college football betting matchups with Cal as the series has gone under the total in 6 of the last 8 meetings.
