March Madness betting fans may think of Butler first in regards to the Horizon but there are 3 other top contenders that can bring home the bacon with the March Madness betting line.

The Horizon League Tournament is played on home court campus venues with the top teams getting early byes into the later rounds.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee was the regular season champion with a record of 18-12 straight up and 17-13 against the spread.  The Panthers had the hot hand down the stretch with 8 payouts in their final 10 games.

Anthony Hill is Milwaukee’s top player as he averaged 15.3 points per game and also led the Panthers in rebounds with 6.4 per game.  Milwaukee swept the vaunted Butler Bulldogs this season.

Butler is best known by those looking to make a March Madness bet as the team to beat in the Horizon based on their resume of recent success that includes a near miss in the National Championship Game versus Duke last year.  Butler finished 21-9 straight up and was 13-13-2 against the spread.

Butler was actually a solid team that ranked in the upper quarter of college basketball for both offense and defense.  The Bulldogs did not retain a lot of board value down the stretch as they got the money in just 3 of their final 10 games of the season.  Matt Howard led Butler with 16.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per outing.

Cleveland State is another quality team from the Horizon League to consider for a potential value to bet March Madness with.  The Vikings had a record of 24-7 straight up and 13-12-2 against the spread with just 10 of their 26 lined games going under the total.

Cleveland State was in the thick of the Horizon League race before fading badly down the stretch as they got the money just once in their final 7 games of the regular season.  The Vikings are an excellent defensive team that allowed just 63.6 points per game.

Cleveland State’s Norris Cole averaged 21.6 points and 5.5 assists per game to establish himself as a bona fide March Madness betting asset.  The Vikings split 2 games with Milwaukee and were swept by Butler in the regular season.
