March Madness Odds on Top ACC Contenders at Sports Gambling

March Madness odds do not always offer a lot of value on the ACC, however, as they are the most “public” teams to bet on March Madness with.  North Carolina will always be a heavy favorite against the March Madness odds.

Since Roy Williams took over as coach the Tar Heels have impressed everyone that likes to bet on March Madness as a powerhouse.  While Carolina went 24-3 straight up they were just 10-15 against the spread which is indicative of their lack of value against the March Madness odds as they are one of the biggest “name brand” teams on the board.

The Tar Heels did do well against the March Madness odds last year as they went 4-1 against the spread as they lost to Kansas in the Final Four.  From 2005-2007, however, the Tar Heels operated in the red against the March Madness odds despite winning the 2005 national title.

Duke is another highly “public” team that often lacks value against the March Madness odds.  Duke was 23-5 straight up this year but just 13-13-1 against the spread.  The Blue Devils have badly burned those who like to bet on March Madness the past three seasons by going 0-6 against the spread in “Big Dance” action.

Clemson could be a surprise value for those who like to bet on the March Madness odds.  Clemson was 23-5 straight up this season and 11-10-1 against the spread.  That being said the Tigers did have the hot hand from late January on and were a top ACC contender.  Clemson also made the NCAA tourney last year but lost in the first round.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons also may bring value against the March Madness odds.  Wake was 21-5 straight up this season and 12-10 against the spread.  The Deacons will be hungry to get back on the March Madness odds board as they have not “danced” since 2005.
