March Madness Betting - Syracuse Continues to Pace West

March Madness betting excitement continues to spread as everyone that is preparing to bet with the “Sweet Sixteen” is keeping a sharp eye on Syracuse.

March Madness betting anticipation is growing towards an expected repeat appearance in the Final Four by Syracuse but there could be bet on March Madness upsets along the way. Syracuse is the number one seed in the West Regionals and a March Madness betting favorite to make the Final Four next weekend.

The Orange beat the March Madness betting line in their first two tournament games as they opened with a 79-56 win over Vermont as 15.5-point favorites and followed that up with an 87-65 win over Gonzaga as 6.5-point favorites.  The Orange have a March 25 date with 5-seed Butler.

The Butler Bulldogs were one of the potential “sleeper” teams on the March Madness betting board this year as they dominated the Horizon League and have been an underrated program for the past few years.

Butler scored a March Madness betting payout in the opening round against Texas El Paso 77-59 as 2.5-point dogs and followed that up with a thrilling 54-52 win over Murray State but failed to cover the spread as 4-point chalks.  The other Sweet Sixteen March Madness betting matchup in the West is 6-seed Xavier and 2-seed Kansas State.

Xavier enters the Sweet Sixteen Dance Floor that follows a 65-54 win over Minnesota as 1.5-point dogs and then a nice March Madness betting upset win over 3-seed Pittsburgh 71-68 as 1.5-point dogs.

Kansas State scored an 82-62 win over North Texas as 15-point chalks in the opening round and followed that up with an 84-72 win over BYU as 4-point chalks in the second round.  Among the upsets in the West Regional was 13-seed Murray State’s 66-65 win over 4-seeded Vanderbilt as 2.5-point dogs.

Gonzaga’s performance against Syracuse was disappointing as even though the Zags were solid underdogs a better effort was expected.  Minnesota was another big disappointment as they gave Xavier little fight after entering the Big Dance with momentum.

Plenty of teams that had their bubbles burst by the Gophers are feeling vindicated and frustrated now.
