March Madness Betting Lessons of Butler & Davidson at Sports Gambling

March Madness betting in 2008 saw the so-called “mid majors” have their impact on the March Madness betting line.

March Madness betting usually includes a strong run by a mid team or two that bring added value against the March Madness betting line.  Butler was a great March Madness betting example of a hyped up mid major school in 2008.

Butler had caught an unusual amount of attention for a mid major heading into March Madness betting action and all of this attention increased their profile with the average gambler.  In their first game against the March Madness betting line Butler beat South Alabama 81-61 as 4-point favorites to get the cash with ease.

This only served to increase Butler’s March Madness betting profile, however, and decreased their value as a result.  In their next March Madness betting action against Tennessee as 4.5-point dogs, Butler failed to deliver in a 71-76 loss.  Davidson proved to be the best March Madness betting value of all of the mid majors.

Davidson’s success against the March Madness betting line was textbook for a mid major as unlike Butler they kept under the public radar screen early on.  Davidson began March Madness betting action with a former surprise mid major team of their own in Gonzaga.  Davidson prevailed 82-76 as 1-point chalks.

The real March Madness betting shocker occurred in their next game as Davidson was up against powerful Georgetown of the Big East as 4.5-point dogs.  Davidson pulled off a stunning 74-70 win and cover in a classic demonstration of what makes March Madness betting so exciting.

Yet Davidson remained an outstanding March Madness betting value in their next game against a strong Wisconsin team that had an annual date in the “Big Dance”.  Davidson was a 5-point dog and prevailed with ease in a 73-56 win that put them into the “Elite Eight” against the Kansas Jayhawks.

As 9.5-point dogs against the eventual national champions Davidson gave KU the ultimate scare before finally having their Cinderella dream turn into midnight with a 57-59 heartbreaker of a loss.
