March Madness Bet Lessons from St. Joseph’s at Sports Gambling

March Madness bet fans surely remember when the St. Joseph’s Hawks chased perfection and attracted major attention from those who bet March Madness.

March Madness bet handicappers lost nearly all doubts about the 2004 Hawks at the end of the regular season as it was time to bet March Madness.  There are many March Madness bet lessons to draw from the 2004 Hawks that can be applied to future NCAA tourneys.

St. Joseph’s was perfect in the regular season and entered March Madness bet action in the Atlantic 10 conference tournament as the heavy chalk with March Madness bet odds makers.  There were some signs, however, that the Hawks were losing March Madness bet momentum and value just as it was the most important time to have it.

The Hawks entered March Madness bet action with just four payoffs in their final nine games of the regular season as they attracted more and more dollars from less knowledgeable people that bet March Madness action.  In the A-10 tourney St. Joseph’s was a 7.5-point March Madness bet favorite against Xavier.

The Hawks were starting to feel the strain of the massive publicity and attention that they were receiving for being an undefeated team.  It was as if the entire world was on their shoulders and, sure enough, they suffered a March Madness bet humiliation to the Musketeers 67-87.

This loss still did not hurt St. Joseph’s status as a top seed in the big dance and they were prohibitive March Madness bet chalks of 25-points over Liberty in the first round.  The Hawks failed to cover in their 82-63 win.

In the second round against Texas Tech fans were still wanting to bet March Madness on the Hawks as they were 6.5-point favorites but again failed to cover in a 70-65 win.

By this time Billy Packer of CBS TV was ripping the Hawks as general frauds and pretenders and this helped enhance their March Madness bet value with a more skeptical and burned public.

St. Joseph’s covered their final two games as they bowed out at the “Elite Eight” round.  The Hawks showed how the pressure of being undefeated and the attention it attracts can kill betting value.
