College Basketball Betting - ACC Featuring Surprises at Top and Bottom

College basketball betting fans will have to re-evaluate their early impressions about the Atlantic Coast Conference and its March Madness betting prospects.

College basketball betting handicappers would not be shocked to see Duke at the top of the ACC March Madness betting race. To See North Carolina at the bottom is another matter, however. Duke was leading the college basketball betting race in the ACC as their hated arch rivals were near the bottom of the conference standings.

North Carolina is the defending March Madness betting national champion but is in serious danger of not competing with the March Madness odds.  Wake Forest has had an impressive college basketball betting start to the ACC race as they were in the thick of the fight with Duke for first place.

Wake Forest had the hot hand as ACC play heated up as from January 3 through February 6 the Demon Deacons had a college basketball betting mark of 6-3 against the spread.

Wake Forest scored their most important and impressive college basketball betting win on January 20 with an 82-69 triumph at North Carolina as 6.5-point dogs.

The Maryland Terrapins have also reclaimed some college basketball betting respect as they were in third place in the ACC standings with a mark of 15-6 straight up and 9-7 against the spread.

Maryland was one of the hottest commodities in all of college basketball betting with a mark of 8-1 against the spread from January 3 through February 4.  Virginia Tech is another top shelf college basketball betting commodity in the ACC race.

The Hokies continue to improve each season under coach Seth Greenberg and had a mark of 18-4 straight up and 9-7 against the spread.  The Hokies were fourth in the ACC race and were 6-3 against the spread from January 2 through February 6.  Tech beat North Carolina 74-70 on February 4 as 3.5-point home chalks.

Virginia has also re-emerged as a respected ACC contender.  The 5th place Cavaliers were 14-7 straight up and 9-7 against the spread.  They also scored a big win at North Carolina’s expense on January 31 with a 75-60 blowout payoff as 8-point road dogs.

The thought of North Carolina becoming the ACC whipping boy has been the biggest stunner of 2010!
