Bet March Madness fans face the distinct possibility that the UCLA Bruins will not be putting on their “Dance Shoes” for March Madness gambling action this year. UCLA had a bet March Madness record of 12-14 straight up and 11-12 against the spread while standing in the middle of the Pac-10 Conference March Madness gambling race.
The Bruins suffered another blow to their chances with the March Madness odds in a 68-97 blowout loss at Washington on February 20. About the only hope that UCLA has of being on the bet March Madness board would be to win the Pac-10 Tournament. Otherwise they are looking at the NIT rather than bet March Madness action this spring.
UCLA expected to be in transition this year and knew that it would be a challenge to make the bet March Madness board as they replaced a host of veteran starters. Still, coach Ben Howland has built a solid program and expectations for bet March Madness action are always high at Westwood.
Howland admitted it has been a hard climb to make the bet March Madness board. “This season has been a tough one. The fact that we started out really poorly, got off to a slow start just in terms of how we were playing. We were very young. It’s been a tough year.”
Along the way in their attempt to make the bet March Madness brackets there have been some painful losses that could have gone either way. “It’s amazing, as a player and as a coach, how you always remember the tough losses better than the victories. They’re just way more vivid. How you respond to defeat is very important.”
UCLA has really struggled on offense this year with a ranking of 230 for scoring while the defense hasn’t been much better as it ranked 184. While there have been some great wins at times the losses have been too great and a season sweep at the hands of arch rival USC hurt as well.
