Not many people thought the Bulls and Hawks would even play a Game 6 but the Hawks have been very competitive in this series. In the first four games of this series the teams split both straight up and against the odds in NBA gambling.
NBA playoffs odds have favored Chicago in every game of this series. The Bulls were heavily favored in their three home games and small favorites on the road. Chicago is a slight favorite in NBA gambling in Atlanta on Thursday night for Game 6.
Three of the first four games in this series went over the total but the oddsmakers really haven’t moved the number much. The totals have been right around 178.5 in this series. The two previous games in Atlanta in this series both went over the total.
Chicago was such a heavy favorite in NBA playoffs odds before this series began that most people thought they would win the series in either four or five games. Now there is a chance this could actually be a seven-game series. No one saw that coming. Chicago had the best record in the NBA at home this season but they have been beaten at home in this series.
The Hawks split their first two home games in this series and even that is surprising considering Atlanta was not that good at home this season. The Hawks in the regular season were just 16-25 against the point spread while Chicago was an excellent road team, going 24-15-2 ATS.
Even if the Bulls end up winning this series it is hard to like their chances vs. the NBA playoffs odds in the next round against either Boston or Miami. The Bulls have not looked like a championship team against the Hawks. Atlanta is not a great team and Chicago should have already put them away.
The Bulls have a great player in Derrick Rose but they don’t look to have the pieces yet to win an NBA title. Perhaps the Bulls will get past the Hawks but getting to the NBA finals looks like it is going to be very difficult for Chicago.
