NBA gambling fans have seen Washington go from a 43 win team in 2007-08 to become one of the biggest losers with the NBA gambling odds the past two seasons.
In 2008-09 Washington won just 19 games and then last year they showed a modest improvement to a still god awful 26 wins.
With the continuing saga of the drama known as Gilbert Arenas and little prospect for real improvement in the Eastern Conference the Washington Wizards opened as a +10000 longshot choice to win the NBA title at Sports-Gambling.
Washington was a somewhat better board value that what might have otherwise been expected as they did payout 35 times. They were one of the more regular under teams in NBA betting as they went over the total just 30 times.
Washington has high hopes for rookie point guard John Wall out of Kentucky who is expected to have an immediate impact on the team’s success. Coach Flip Saunders has raved about Wall being the complete package of skill and athleticism that should give this down and out franchise a much needed shot in the arm.
Arenas on the other hand has gone from franchise player into a NBA betting online disgrace. The NBA suspended Arenas for the final 50 games of last season for bringing fire arms into the locker room due to a dispute with teammate Javaris Crittenton.
It was a rather ironic incident for a team that used to be known as the Bullets but changed its name to Wizards out of political correctness due to gun violence in the nation’s capital. Arenas did manage to have a team best 22.8 points per game for the 32 games that he actually played in.
Arenas was not tradable due to his huge contract compounded with the image of being a bad boy. The Wizards are stuck with Arenas over the next four seasons and are hoping that the public remorse he has shown is genuine and that he can team up with Wall for a new and promising future.
Washington offers potential NBA gambling value as a sleeper team if Arenas does come back into top form and Wall is the player that he is touted to be.
