NBA Betting: Houston Rockets vs. L.A. Lakers

NBA betting features one of the best games of the young online basketball betting season as the Rockets meet the Lakers in a weekend ending NBA classic!

NBA betting fans were anxious to see how Houston would perform with Yao Ming back from injury and Ron Artest added to the team with new head coach Rick Adelman.  So far this online basketball betting season the results are mixed as Houston is 3-1 straight up but just 1-3 against the NBA betting lines.

This is a clear indication that the Rockets have little NBA betting value at the start of the season and too much of the online basketball betting public is “on” them, which drives up the NBA betting odds price.

Houston has been led so far in the NBA betting season by Tracy McGrady, who is averaging 20 points per game.  McGrady also led the Rockets in assists to start the NBA betting season with nearly 6 per game while Ming has led in rebounds with just over 10 per game so far in the NBA betting season.

Houston’s offense got off to a sluggish start with a 19th ranking in the NBA betting stats at the outset while ranking a solid 5th in defense.  The LA Lakers look to be another strong title contender as they started the NBA betting season 4-0 straight up and 3-0 against the NBA betting lines.

The Lakers began the online basketball betting season looking incredibly strong on both sides of the ball being ranked 2nd in both offense and defense overall.  Amongst the Lakers’ 4 wins were two blowout humiliations of cross town rival LA Clippers by scores of 117-79 and then later 106-88, easily covering the NBA betting odds in both matchups.

As you would expect, Kobe Bryant dominated the start of the NBA betting season with an average of almost 25 points per game scoring and also leading the team in assists.  Pau Gasol started off the NBA betting season as the Lakers leading rebounder.

Houston has been a strong road team since last season as the Rockets have beaten the NBA betting odds in 19 of their last 28 on the road.  The Rockets have also gone under the NBA betting total in 10 of their last 14 against the Western Conference.
