NBA Basketball Betting: Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks

NBA basketball betting Sunday includes an “old school” Eastern Conference NBA betting showdown between Boston and New York.

NBA basketball betting fans remember when this was one of the hottest rivalries in all of sports and not just in NBA betting.  The Boston Celtics have been one of the better teams in NBA basketball betting for since December.

Boston had an overall NBA basketball betting record of 27-4 straight up and 17-14 against the basketball betting odds.  Boston was in the red on the NBA basketball betting road, however, with a mark of 6-7 against the spread.

Boston had the hot hand with a record of 7-0 straight up and 5-2 against the NBA basketball betting spread heading into their Christmas showdown with the Lakers in Los Angeles.  That is where the Celtics NBA betting problems began.  Boston was handled by the Lakers 83-92 as 2 point NBA basketball betting dogs.

While that was an understandable loss their next game at Golden State was not as the Celtics were upset by the Warriors 89-99 as 11 point NBA betting chalks in an obvious case of Laker letdown syndrome.  The New York Knicks have been an organization in transition since last summer when their entire front office got a severe makeover.

The Knicks had a good start to the NBA basketball betting season before slowing down in December.  New York was a good NBA basketball betting value overall, however, as their record was just 11-17 straight up but a much better 15-13 against the basketball betting odds.

The NBA basketball betting roof finally caved in on the Knicks from December 15 through December 26 as they went 0-5 straight up and 2-3 against the spread with all three pointspread failures coming at the tail end of that stretch.  As a NBA basketball betting dog the Knicks got the cash in 12 out of 21 opportunities.

New York had quite a discrepancy on both sides of the court as they ranked 3rd overall on offense while ranking 29th overall on defense.  Al Harrington led the Knicks in scoring with an average of 23 points per game.
