Do the Golden State Warriors Have a Shot to Repeat?

Any team in the NBA that wins the title is often favored to repeat in the next season. This is certainly the case with the Golden State Warriors in that the Warriors have +500 odds to win the 2016 NBA title. Still, the Warriors only have the third-best odds to win it all this coming season.

In particular, the Cleveland Cavaliers have +275 NBA gambling odds to win the title, thus making them the true favorites to win. Much of this could be chalked up to the simple fact that LeBron James is still the top player in the game and is still with the Cavs.

The San Antonio Spurs are listed at +300 to win the title as well. The Spurs have strong odds to win as Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili continue to play with the team. However, the acquisition of LaMarcus Aldridge from Portland could possibly get the Spurs to move forward and get their sixth NBA title. Aldridge has consistently been getting twenty points per game or more throughout much of his career.

Some teams with lower odds are strong choices as well; the Oklahoma City Thunder has +850 odds while the Los Angeles Clippers are not too far off at +1000. DeAndre Jordan’s decision to stick with the Clippers and the health of the Thunder’s best stars could potentially make an impact on the coming season.

As for the Warriors, the team does indeed have plenty of stars coming back including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. There is also the potential for James Michael McAdoo to possibly catch up again and become a stronger player in the coming season.

The Golden State Warriors are not the overall favorites to win the NBA title in 2016 but the team is still going to be a strong contender. The big changes for the Spurs and the overall existence of LeBron will certainly impact the season. The Clippers’ upgrades and the fact that the Thunder is healthy again could really make a difference too.
