The Heat were an outstanding defensive team that ranked 3rd in the NBA for points allowed while ranking 9th for scoring.  Dwayne Wade took over the team lead with 24.5 points per game with LeBron James right behind with 24.4 points per game.

Chris Bosh led the Heat in rebounds with 8.2 per outing and he also had 18.6 points per game.  After a slow start the Heat responded with outstanding basketball in December as they got back in the race for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Portland was 17-16 straight up and 16-15-2 with the NBA betting line.  The Blazers were a good value at home with 9 payouts in their first 14 games.  Portland was sluggish recently however with just 4 payouts in 10 games from December 12 through December 30.

LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland in scoring with 19.4 points per game.  The Blazers ranked 9th in scoring defense but just 24th for scoring offense.  Marcus Camby was a solid glass cleaner with 11.2 rebounds per game.
