The Pirates have been one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball during the past decade and the franchise is now shunned by some baseball gambling enthusiasts. There is little hope that 2008 will offer the chance for the club to turn its fortunes around, but if the baseball gambling lines are set liberally enough then perhaps the Pirates may at least provide some online gambling baseball value.
Baseball gambling on the Pirates last year was anything but profitable. The team finished the year with a horrible 68-94 overall record, granting the franchise the second worse record in the league and making them one of only three teams not to win at least 70 games during the season.
The Pirates did fare slightly better against the baseball gambling odds by posting a 78-84 record against the online gambling baseball run lines, yet the team was clearly an unprofitable bet.
The promise of a new season undoubtedly has some Pirates baseball gambling fans hoping that the Pirates will improve in 2008, but with this losing franchise ‘improvement’ is a relative word.
Even in the fairly weak NL Central it is highly doubtful that the Pirates will reach the postseason, but even posting a winning record would be a major accomplishment for this club.
The team does have a few very talented players, such as second baseman Freddy Sanchez, but they do not have any superstars whose presence can significantly impact the baseball gambling odds.
Therefore, if the Pirates are going to provide any online gambling baseball value in 2008 then it will probably come in the form of the Pirates covering their underdog baseball gambling spreads, and this possibility is actually quite realistic.
After last year’s horrible record the baseball gambling lines will likely be shifted even more to accommodate the Pirates and give them lines they may be more realistically capable of covering.
Also, with the baseball gambling odds placed so low, if the Pirates improve even just slightly then there is a chance they will be able to cover the baseball gambling odds frequently enough to give the club baseball gambling value.
Many baseball gambling analysts would doubt that the Pirates could even do that well, but when considering Pirates baseball gambling it is really the most one can hope for in 2008.
