Most people who wager on baseball betting odds knew that the Phillies would be good but the hot start from the Marlins has surprised a few people. Here is a look at this matchup for Wednesday night.
MLB gambling numbers at Sports Gambling will likely favor the Phillies even though they are on the road. The probable pitching matchup has Cliff Lee going up against Ricky Nolasco. It really hasn’t mattered who goes to the mound for the Phillies.
They have the best starting rotation in the league and now it looks even better with Joe Blanton on the DL because rookie Vance Worley has been almost unhittable in his two starts in place of Blanton.
The Phillies are in the top five in the league in team ERA and their offense has been very solid ranking in the Top 10. If the Phillies can continue to stay in the top ten in hitting they are going to be extremely difficult to beat all season vs. the MLB lines.
The Marlins have been a pleasant surprise vs. the baseball betting odds this season. The Marlins are in the top 10 in runs scored per game at just over 4.6 per game and their pitching has been good as well, allowing just 3.5 runs per contest.
There is a lot to like about the Marlins as they have some good young talent led by players like, Hanley Ramirez, Gaby Sanchez and Mike Stanton and some power arms in the rotation led by Josh Johnson.
The Phillies have simply owned the Marlins in Florida recently. Before this series began the Phillies had won eight of the last ten at Florida. Last year was really ugly for the fish at home as they lost eight of the nine meetings. Four of the last five meetings last season went over the total in MLB betting.
Many gamblers will back the Phillies in this game vs. the MLB gambling number but if Nolasco goes as scheduled for the Marlins you have to give Florida a look as they continue to win when he is on the mound. He was 3-0 early in the season with an ERA of just above three. His three wins were as many as Johnson had in his first seven starts.
