MLB betting expectations are high as well for the Minnesota Twins as they are among the online baseball betting favorites to win the American League pennant.

The Boston Red Sox will face the Minnesota Twins on Sunday night in an exhibition game that may be a preview of the American League playoffs.  Game time is set for 7:05 PM ET and Sports Gambling will have side and total odds for this and the rest of the exhibition slate so be sure and open your account today.

The Boston Red Sox finished with a disappointing record of 89-73 with the baseball odds last year.  To make matters worse the Red Sox are one of the most “public” and popular teams on the board which makes every loss extra expensive for gamblers.

Boston failed to make the playoffs as the third place team in the American League East but should be able to contend for the top spot this year as the New York Yankees are aging and the Tampa Bay Rays were decimated by free agency losses on their roster.

Boston was the second highest run scoring team in the majors last year but their pitching was a dreadful 21st for staff earned run average.

Minnesota was the champion of the American League Central Division with a record of 94-68 but was bounced in a three game sweep by the New York Yankees in the playoffs.  Minnesota was one of the better balanced teams in betting baseball last year as they ranked 6th for run production and 11th for staff earned run average.

To be fair to the Red Sox they were bitten bad by the injury bug last year and had 19 players on the disabled list.  Left hand starter Jon Lester is coming of back to back 19 win seasons to become a serious contender for the Cy Young Award.  Closer Jonathan Papelbon had a horrible season and must bounce back top prior form if Boston is to get back into contention.

Minnesota must also solve a closer issue but has beefed up its payroll to $115 million thanks to sellout crowds at beautiful new Target Field.  The bullpen is all that can hold the Twins back from MLB betting post season contention.
