In 2007 the Dodgers finished the year just over .500 but still provided horrible MLB betting value. With Joe Torre having arrived for 2008 and a strong pitching nucleus in place, many MLB betting fans of the Dodgers are anticipating the upcoming season with cautious MLB betting optimism.
MLB betting on the Dodgers last season provided a significant dearth of MLB baseball betting value because the team simply could not live up to the MLB betting expectations laid out for them. The Dodgers finished the year with an overall record of 82-80, which is decent but far from memorable.
Also, in the competitive NL West that record had the Dodgers floundering in fourth place in their division when the year ended. However, it was against the MLB baseball betting odds that L.A. really performed horribly, as the Dodgers finished the year with an atrocious 70-92 record against the MLB betting run lines.
Even though the Dodgers were horrible for MLB baseball betting in 2007, their overall record does offer at least some reason for optimism in 2008. Newly acquired manager Joe Torre has enjoyed many successful years in New York with the Yankees.
MLB betting analysts recognize that in New York Torre was surrounded by a talent pool that is clearly lacking in Los Angeles, but Torre nevertheless has experience coaching winning squads and may be able to give the Dodgers the boost they need in order to return to the playoffs.
Furthermore, the Dodgers have several excellent pitchers, including Brad Penny and Takashi Saito, who can give the team the strong defense it needs to win games and provide MLB betting value.
However, the Dodgers struggled to score runs last season and will certainly need to be more productive on offense in 2008 if they are going to offer genuine MLB betting value once again. If Torre can help turn the Dodgers’ offense around then the team may be one of the best MLB betting prospects in the league.
On the other hand, if the offense continues to flounder and the team continues depending on the pitchers to earn all of the team’s victories then it may be another year of MLB betting disappointments in Los Angeles.
