Betting baseball handicappers are now seeing why the Red Sox were such a popular preseason choice and baseball wagering favorite to win the 2011 World Series.

The Boston Red Sox will host the Chicago Cubs on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball with a starting time of 8:05 PM ET.  Be sure to have your Sports Gambling account open and ready for action on this interleague matchup.

The Chicago Cubs have Matt Garza as the scheduled probable starting pitcher while the Boston Red Sox are slated to go with Tim Wakefield.

As expected the Cubs have not been a profitable team with the MLB betting odds in 2011 as they won just 17 out of 40 games and had a road record of just 8-10.  Chicago went over the total in 10 of their 18 away games.

The Cubs have been mediocre on offense as they ranked just 19th for run production while their pitching staff has been a disaster and ranked 29th in the big leagues for earned run average.  Garza has been one of the better pitchers for the Cubs as he had a 3.72 earned run average and a record of 2-4.

Alfonso Soriano was the main power source for Chicago as he had 11 home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Boston has recovered after a horrible start and climbed over the .500 mark with a betting baseball record of 21-20.  The Red Sox were 12-9 at home and went under the total in just 8 of their 21 games as a host.

Boston was ranked 10th in the major leagues for run production but their pitching staff remains a major concern as it ranked 25th overall for earned run average.  Wakefield has been one of the main culprits in the pitching woes of Boston as he had a 5.40 earned run average.

Adrian Gonzalez has been proving his worth after signing a big contract in an offseason move from the San Diego Padres as he was hitting .327 with 9 home runs and 37 runs batted in.  David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis have also been assets with the MLB baseball odds as they each had 7 home runs for the Bosox to start the season.
