Baseball Betting on Orioles vs. Red Sox at Sports Gambling

Baseball betting turns its attention to a matchup of surprise teams, though for vastly different reasons against the baseball odds.

Baseball betting fans have gotten unexpected value from the Baltimore Orioles while the Boston Red Sox have been gushing red ink against the baseball odds.  The scheduled probable starting pitchers for this AL east baseball betting matchup are right hander Jeremy Guthrie for Baltimore and right hander Josh Beckett for Boston.

Guthrie is emblematic of the Orioles’ great start as he won his first two appearances on the mound against the baseball odds with a stellar 2.25 earned run average.  Beckett was a break even 1-1 against the baseball betting board to begin the season with an earned run average of 3.46.

Beckett has had baseball betting success against the Orioles with a lifetime mark of 4-2 with a 3.73 earned run average.  Guthrie is 1-2 for his career against Boston with a 3.43 earned run average.  The Baltimore Orioles won 5 out of their first 7 baseball betting decisions with 5 of those games also going over the total.

Offense has been the big reason for Baltimore’s success as the Orioles were ranked 6th overall in the majors for hitting but just 24th overall on the mound, which helps explain their baseball betting trend of “overs”.  Brian Roberts was hitting .414 to start the season while Nick Markakis was hitting .370 with 10 runs, 9 runs batted in, and 3 doubles.

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most “public” teams in all of baseball betting which is translated into a lot of potential overlays and expensive losses.  Boston killed their baseball betting backers out of the gate with 5 losses in their first 7 games.  Just 2 of those games went under the total.

Boston has been near punchless at the plate and their 21st ranked pitching staff has not been able to cover the lack of production.  While the Red Sox were picked as a leading contender to winning it all it has been an alarming and expensive start to the season.
