NFL Betting: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Carolina Panthers

NFL action continues in Week 5 as the Chiefs (1-3 SU, 2-2 ATS) visit the Panthers (3-1 SU, 2-1-1 ATS) on Sunday for an inter-conference NFL betting contest.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 ET. Kansas City is 7-2 ATS in its last nine games on the road, while Carolina is 4-0-1 in its last five home games. The Chiefs were at Arrowhead Stadium last Sunday to host the undefeated Broncos. Denver was favored by eight-points, with the ‘total’ standing pat at 47.

Kansas City took the early 6-0 lead in the first quarter on two Nick Novak field goals and was up 13-10 at the break. Kansas City quarterback Damon Huard put up decent numbers on the day, completing 21 passes out of 28 attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown.

For a team ranked #30 in defense against the run, the Chiefs did very well, holding the Broncos to just 94 yards rushing on the day. Kansas City won the time of possession battle and only committed one turnover to Denver’s four. The Chiefs beat the Broncos 33-19 and got their first win of the football betting season.

Football bettors who picked Kansas City, straight up or getting the points or the total to exceed the NFL betting line were rewarded for their victory. The Carolina Panthers played host to its NFC South division rival, the Atlanta Falcons, last Sunday afternoon.

Carolina closed a seven-point favorite, with the ‘total’ coming in at 38.5 per the closing NFL odds. QB Jake Delhomme had an impressive outing for Carolina, completing 20 out of 29 passes, for 294 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers committed 11 penalties for 90 yards and only converted 25% of third down opportunities, but the defense was able to stop the Falcons from reaching the end zone all day.

This was enough to earn them the 24-9 victory; however, there were not enough points scored to satisfy football betting followers who picked the over in this NFL betting contest. The Carolina Panthers currently sit as 9.5-point favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday, with the ‘total’ standing pat at 38.
