NFL Betting: Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers

Two surprise teams jockeying for NFL betting playoff positioning in the NFC hook up in Charlotte on Sunday when the Cardinals clash with the Panthers.

Both teams currently sit atop the standings of their respective divisions and will look to strengthen their hold on a playoff spot with a victory in Week 8.  Football bettors can partake in all of the wagering action until the game kicks off at 1:00 ET.

The Cardinals (4-2, 4-2 ATS) had a week off from football betting action last weekend after posting back-to-back impressive victories against the NFL betting line at home.  They knocked off Dallas and Buffalo by a combined score of 71-41, but haven’t had nearly as much luck this season as a visitor.

In their two trips to the East Coast, Arizona is 0-2 SU and ATS, giving up a whopping 40 points per game.  Their offense is still deadly, ranking 1st in points scored (29.5), 2nd in passing yards (273.2), and 6th in total yards per game (360).

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Cards are 4-2 for ‘over’ bettors this year, including three straight victories against the ‘total’ by an average margin of almost three touchdowns per game.  While Arizona has been busy putting up Arena Football numbers against the NFL, Carolina has found their success with defense.

They rank in the Top-5 in total yards allowed (275.7), passing yards allowed (168.7), and points allowed (14.9).  Three of their L/4 opponents have failed to crack double digits, including the mighty Saints offense last weekend.  QB Jake Delhomme tossed two touchdown passes, but the defense was the story, limiting the potent New Orleans passing attack to just 231 yards.

The 30-7 victory made a mockery of the football betting odds that closed with Carolina installed as short favorites.  It was the sixth straight victory for NFL betting fans that wagered on the ‘under’.  Carolina has been tabbed 4.5-point favorites in this critical NFC showdown with the ‘total’ coming in at 43.5.

The Panthers (5-2, 4-2-1 ATS) have won four straight and covered three straight in this series.  Will it be another cash for Carolina bettors this Sunday?
