NCAA Football Betting: USC Trojans - Virginia Cavaliers

USC Trojans will be looking to rebound from a rare NCAA football betting season in which they didn’t contend for the national championship a season ago.

That quest begins on Saturday afternoon when they head to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers (9-4 in 2007). Sports-Gambling.com Sportsbook will have all of the football betting action on the game up until the kickoff at 3:30 PM. The Trojans are 4-1 favorites to win the national championship this year, and are odds on favorites to win the Pac-10.

They have been selected #3 in the pre-season AP poll. Virginia looked strong on paper going into this season, but the dismissal of QB Jameel Sewell has put a damper on its outlook for ’08. Though the Trojans went 11-2 SU last season, they were only a modest 7-6 ATS. In the Rose Bowl against Illinois, USC was only set as 13-point favorites according to the closing NCAA odds.

A dominant performance on both sides of the ball easily gave NCAA football betting fans with Southern Cal on their ticket an easy ‘W’ after the 49-17 victory. In non-conference play, the Trojans were strong in ’07, covering the spread in three of their four games and outscoring their opponents 174-58.

Virginia was the team that put football bettors into cardiac arrest more often than not in 2007. Eight of their 13 games resulted in final scores that were within one score of flipping which team beat the NCAA football betting line.

They won five games by one to two points last season, but probably won’t be as fortunate this year since their starting quarterback (Sewell) and two players who were selected in the first round of the NFL draft (Brendan Albert and Chris Long) must be replaced. Due to all of the problems at Virginia, USC has been installed as overwhelming 19-point road favorites.

The ‘total’ is set at a low 45.5, and with good reason. UVA is 13-6 towards the ‘under’ in their L/19 home games, while USC is on a current streak of nine out of eleven ‘unders’. Sports-Gambling.com Sportsbook can handle all of the football betting your heart desires, including spread, ‘total’, and moneyline wagering.
