On Saturday, the Central Florida Knights (1-1, 1-0 ATS) step out of conference play to take on the Boston College Eagles (1-1, 1-1 ATS). Kickoff from Chestnut Hill is at 1:00 PM. Both teams have struggled out of the blocks so far this season, but one will take one step closer towards becoming bowl eligible in ’08.
The Knights had a much-needed week off after having a very physical showdown with the South Florida Bulls two weeks ago at Brighthouse Networks Stadium. Football betting fans with UCF on their ticket had their hearts in their throats when the Bulls took a 24-10 lead late into the 4th quarter, as the NCAA football betting line saw the Knights underdogs by 13.5-points.
QB Mike Greco led the charge in the final three minutes though, bringing the Knights down the field on back-to-back drives to knot the game at 24-24 and send it to overtime. After USF scored a touchdown on their first possession in the extra frame, UCF went out on downs, giving the 31-24 victory to their rivals from Tampa Bay.
Things clearly aren’t going to be as easy for Boston College as they were last season. With QB Matt Ryan now the starting field general for the Atlanta Falcons, the Eagles have struggled to find any offensive consistency in their opening two games.
They were off this past weekend, but in their showdown with Georgia Tech back on September 6th, the offense only managed 262 yards. The Eagles were favored by 6.5-points on the football betting line, but never found themselves in front of that number for their college football betting followers.
Tech scored the game-winning touchdown with 8:26 to go, handing BC a 19-16 loss to open ACC play. The offense is going to have to put up a much better effort for the Eagles this week if they’re going to cover the spread as 10.5-point favorites against the Knights.
