The Terps are coming off of two straight home wins, which included a dominant 51-24 win against Eastern Michigan that just covered the NCAA betting line. The Tigers are coming off of a win against lowly FCS school South Carolina State in which Clemson dominated 54-0.
After being held to just 28 total points against lowly Delaware and Middle Tennessee State in their first two games, the Terrapin offense has exploded for 86 points in their last two games against California and Eastern Michigan.
QB Chris Turner appears to have finally wrestled the starting job away from Josh Portis and has thrown for 368 yards and four touchdowns against two interceptions in the past two games. Second Team All-ACC WR Darrius Heyward-Bey also came up big for the Terrapins, contributing 112 total yards and a touchdown in the Terrapins win last week.
Since 2007, Maryland is a combined 2-5 ATS for college football betting fans against the closing NCAA line heading into the game. Clemson had high hopes and a Top 10 ranking to start the season, but the season-opening embarrassment against the Crimson Tide changed all that.
However, the Tigers have battled back the last three weeks cruising in victories against a pair of FCS programs and NC State. RB James Davis was huge for the Tigers last week, scoring their first three touchdowns on the way to the shut out win. QB Cullen Harper was not as impressive by going 15-of-24 for 151 yards and two interceptions in the blowout.
Clemson will be trying to improve on their NCAA football gambling record of 2-4 ATS as a home favorite since last year off of the final NCAA odds. The current football betting line finds the Tigers as 11-point home favorites in this game with the ‘total’ set at 48.5.
