The Gators’ 31-30 home loss to the Rebels last Saturday was in a word, stunning, and coupled with Georgia’s loss to Alabama opened the SEC East race up for everyone.
Meanwhile, to say the Razorbacks have taken a step back in ’08 is an understatement after back-to-back blowout losses to both Alabama and Texas in which Arkansas didn’t come within 14 points of the closing football betting lines.
Dynamic dual-threat QB Tim Tebow had his usual solid game against the Rebels, passing for three touchdowns and 325 total yards of offense in the loss, but a costly fumble and a failure to pick up a yard on 4th and 1 with 51 seconds remaining ultimately spelled the Gators doom.
WR Percy Harvin put forth a phenomenal effort as well, racking up 268 total yards and two touchdowns on 23 touches. Last season, the Gators were a solid 5-1 ATS as a home favorite for college football betting fans but are only 1-2 ATS so far this season in the same capacity against the NCAA football odds.
So far this season the Razorbacks defense has given up 38 PPG, a number that is the highest in the SEC, ultimately pushing all their games to go over the NCAA betting ‘total’. While the defense has been bad, the offense hasn’t helped matters by turning the ball over six times and only scoring 24 points in their last two games against Alabama and Texas.
Quarterback play has been very spotty for the Razorbacks as well; QBs Casey Dick and Tyler Wilson have combined to throw six interceptions and get sacked 17 times through their first four games. Coming into this game, the Razorbacks have lost their last four games ATS against the college football betting odds.
The NCAA football line finds the Gators installed as lofty 24.5-point road favorites in this SEC affair.
