NCAA Betting: Pittsburgh Panthers vs. ND Fighting Irish

A pair of (5-2) teams get together on Saturday, as the Fighting Irish plays host to the Panthers in an NCAA betting affair in South Bend.

Kickoff from Notre Dame Stadium will commence at 2:30 pm Eastern time on NBC.  Pittsburgh entered its week 9 contest with visiting Rutgers as the nation’s seventeenth ranked squad... how they began week ten is a different story: Unranked.

College football betting followers witnessed a school record last Saturday when Rutgers QB Mike Teel threw for six touchdown passes, and the Scarlet Knights embarrassed the Panthers, 54-34, in front 51,161 people at Heinz Field.

The Rutgers senior, who had only thrown for three TD passes before last weekend, tossed five of his six scores in the first half, allowing his team to defeat a ranked opponent on the road for the first time since 1988.  Pitt, however, was never out of the game.

Sophomore running back, LeSean McCoy kept things close, finishing the game with 146-yards on the ground and four TDs, despite Pitt’s fifth loss against the NCAA odds this season.  Perhaps his former University is to blame; Ty Willingham announced this week that he will step down as the head coach of Washington at seasons end.

Ironically, the announcement came after a 33-7 drubbing at the hands of Notre Dame last Saturday in Seattle.  Charlie Weis and Notre Dame never let up in the contest, leading 27-0 at halftime piling on 459-yards of total offense to the Huskies’ paltry 124.  The Irish claimed the first down game as well, 25-9.

Time of possession?... Who else, but Notre Dame.  ND running back, James Aldridge, ran for 84-yards and a career high two-touchdowns, and NCAA football betting fans celebrated their fourth consecutive victory against the NCAA betting odds backing the “Golden Domers”.

It wasn’t until the 2:56 mark in the fourth quarter that Washington finally got on the board, as receiver, D’Andre Goodwin caught a six-yard pass from QB Ronnie Fouch.  One team will become bowl eligible on Saturday in South Bend, and it’s Notre Dame playing the role of favorite by 4.5-points with a game ‘total’ of 49.5.
