NCAA Betting: Michigan Wolverines vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

NCAA betting on Saturday includes an interesting Big Ten showdown between the Wolverines and the Golden Gophers.

NCAA betting fans knew that Michigan would be in transition this NCAA sports betting season but nobody expected the Wolverines to be out of the money for a bowl appearance, which is now the case after their 42-48 loss at Purdue as 2.5-point dogs against the NCAA odds.

Michigan is now an inexplicable 2-7 straight up and a bankroll busting 1-8 against the NCAA betting lines this season.  Minnesota enters this game with a record of 7-2 straight up and 6-2 against the NCAA odds.

The Golden Gophers were beginning to attract NCAA sports betting attention and respect entering their homecoming game last week against Northwestern, which ended in a heartbreaking 17-24 loss in which they failed to cover the NCAA sports betting odds as 7.5-point chalks.

When it comes to NCAA sports betting totals these teams have been virtual opposites as Michigan has gone over the NCAA betting total in seven out of nine games while, conversely, Minnesota has gone under the NCAA betting total in five out of eight games this NCAA sports betting season.

Michigan is suffering through what is, for them, an epic collapse in which they have lost five consecutive games straight up and against the NCAA betting lines.

While most NCAA betting fans expected new coach Rich Rodriguez to struggle in his transition to the spread offense, nobody expected the Michigan defense to rank a most horrendous 97th in the nation.

It was expected that the defense would be able to help carry Michigan to a bowl as the offense would likely struggle throughout the NCAA betting season.  Minnesota has been a most pleasant surprise after winning just one game last year.  The Gophers have been led by the nation’s 20th ranked defense.

Michigan has won ten of the last eleven head to head meetings in this series and has covered the NCAA betting lines in five of the last seven matchups between the teams.
