Kentucky (5-2 SU, 3-3 ATS) is coming off of an exhilarating come from behind 21-20 victory against Arkansas last week. The Gators (5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS) had last week off but two weeks ago showed why they were indeed national championship contenders when they destroyed the LSU Tigers, and the NCAA betting odds in a 51-21 win in the Swamp.
With five minutes left in the game last week, it looked like Kentucky would lose their Homecoming game to Arkansas, but fate intervened and the Wildcats scored two touchdowns in the last five minutes to pull off the victory although they failed to cover the NCAA football betting line.
In the win, QB Mike Hartline completed 17-of-32 for 239 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. WR’s Randall Cobb and Alfonso Smith were great targets for Hartline, catching 10 balls for 181 total yards and all three of his touchdowns. What has been really surprising this year is how good Kentucky’s defense has looked.
They have given up a shade less than 14 PPG on average and have been responsible for five of their six lined games going under the ‘total’ per the closing football wagering odds. College football gamblers that have backed the Gators the last two years have been very happy with the Gators 12-6 ATS performance during that time span.
Although they were off last week, the Gator offense finally clicked on all cylinders the week before racking up 51 points and 475 total yards against a stout LSU defense in their resounding home win and cover. Most impressive for the Gators was a running game that carried the ball 41 times for 265 yards and three touchdowns on the day.
Although NCAA bettors have watched the Gators lose four of their last five against the Wildcats against the spread, the Gators have won 21 straight games straight up against the Wildcats. The NCAA line shows the Gators as lofty 25-point home favorites for the game.
