The 2015 US Open will be held in the state of Washington for the first time ever. This will be held at the Chambers Bay golf course in University Place. This is located on the Puget Sound and is just outside Tacoma.
The course is a par-72 spot that has 7,585 yards for players to go along on. This is a British links-style course. This means that designed with a surface that consistently moves up and down and has a number of dunes all around its body. The turf is also firm and capable of allowing the ball to roll a little further along the path.
The greens here do not have any particular fringes. That is, the fairways will move into the greens as quickly as possible and will move in quite well to create a good surface.
The first nine holes on the course are a little longer than the ones on the second half. A good portion of the holes around the course are in the 400-range in terms of the number of yards that they cover. This is a good total but it also shows that the people who come out here will have to be very active and ready to go after the best possible drives that they can get.
There are not too many short holes on the course. There are three that will be less than 200 yards in length, thus meaning that the golfers on the course will have to take a careful look at what they will be doing when going after some of the longest drives while on the course. This could make the course a little more challenging for some short-drive players.
The Chambers Bay golf course will certainly make for an exciting atmosphere for the US Open in 2015. The new and unique nature of the course will help to create an experience that may be challenging and interesting for all to find, thus making for a course experience that will be unlike many others out there.
