Breeders Cup wagering handicappers will have a $500,000 race that is one and three quarter miles in length to start Breeders Cup betting action.
A.U. Miner is the current leader of the Marathon Division and is likely to be the favorite with the Breeders Cup odds for the Marathon. A. U. Miner is by A. P. Indy and Prospectors Delite. A. U, Miner is coming off a disappointing 3rd place finish in the Hawthorne Gold Cup, a mile and a quarter Grade II race on October 2.
Prior to that, however, the Clark Hanna trained horse won the Greenwood Cup on July 17, which was a longer mile and a half in length. A. U. Miner also picked up a pair of allowance wins along the way in 2010.
Temple City is another top contender in the Marathon Division that should draw plenty of attention from handicappers in this race. Temple City won the Grade 3 Cougar II Handicap on July 30, which was one and a half miles in length. After that, however, Temple City has struggled.
On August 28 in the Grade I Pacific Classic Temple City finished 6th in the mile and one quarter run. In the October 2 Grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup, Temple City finished a poor 8th in another race that was a mile and a quarter in length.
Eldaafer will be yet another popular betting on Breeders Cup Marathon selection. Eldaafer is coming off a win in the Grade III Turfway Fall Championship on September 11 in a race that was one and a half miles in length.
Prior to that Eldaafer, finished 5th in the Grade II Suburban on July 3, which was one and one eights miles in length. On June 4 in the Grade II Brooklyn Handicap, Eldaafer finished 3rd in a race that was one and a half miles in length.
Gitano Hernando will be a popular Breeders Cup wagering choice as well. Gitano Hernando won the Grade I Goodwood last year, which was one and one eighths miles in length. Gitano Hernando has only run once in 2010 which was in another Grade I race, the Dubai World Cup, and finished 6th.
