Belmont Stakes odds handicappers could have two Zito trained horses to evaluate for the June 5 Belmont Stakes betting field in the season’s final Triple Crown race.
Zito is one of the biggest names in Belmont online Stakes wagering as he is a native of New York and has been one of the top trainers in horse racing for the past 20 years plus. He was inducted into the horse racing hall of fame in 2005.
Zito has had considerable Triple Crown horse racing gambling success as he has won the Kentucky Derby twice, the Preakness Stakes once, and his hometown Belmont Stakes twice including most recently in 2008.
Zito’s two likely entries for the Belmont Stakes odds field are Ice Box, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby, and Fly Down, who is yet to run a Triple Crown race but has built up considerable street cred in other big races so far in 2010.
Zito has had mixed success in this year’s Triple Crown horse racing betting season with that run by Ice Box as well as a third place run by Jackson Bend in the Preakness Stakes.
“It’s been up and down,” said Zito. “It’s a lot of rewarding things and you try and put everything in the proper perspective, but it’s so hard because you want it. On the other hand, you’ve got to be thankful and grateful how good they run and how good they come back. So you’ve gotta look at the positive. But it’s frustrating.”
With Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver and Preakness Stakes winner Lookin at Lucky both skipping runs with the Belmont Stakes odds, Zito trained horses will be among the favorites on June 5 for the Belmont, especially with the home town crowd.
Zito knows he will be expected to beat the horse betting odds on Belmont Day.
“A lot of people are saying we’re the horses to beat, if we run two horses,” said Zito.
