Belmont Stakes odds will now be a jumble to figure as Super Saver was beaten badly in the Preakness Stakes after being a Belmont Stakes betting favorite to win the Crown.
Belmont online Stakes wagering will feature the handicapping challenge of combining horses that have had a lot of time off to rest and prepare against other horses that have run in the Kentucky Derby and or the Preakness Stakes. Regardless, Affirmed will remain the last horse to win the Triple Crown at Belmont in 1978.
Super Saver impressed everyone in horse racing gambling when he won the Kentucky Derby with superstar jockey Calvin Borel aboard. Borel won his third “Run for the Roses” in four years and trainer Todd Pletcher, who had won about everything possible in the game except the Blanket of Roses, finally had his first ever Derby winner.
It seemed to be a perfect Triple Crown combination and Borel even predicted a Triple Crown sweep with the Belmont Stakes odds but it turned out not to be as Lookin at Lucky won the Preakness with Super Saver fading and finishing a poor eighth.
Super Saver demonstrated the great challenge of horse racing betting as he was the favorite in the Preakness but simply had nothing left in the tank down the stretch where Lookin at Lucky turned it on for an impressive win.
Pletcher blamed the short two week turnaround for the poor showing of Super Saver.
“He tried hard. It was a little quick for him,” said Pletcher. “I wouldn’t trade the Derby for anything. We got the one we wanted most.”
Borel, who rode Mine That Bird with the Belmont Stakes odds last year said the horse simply had nothing left for the Preakness.
“He just came up a little empty,” said Borel. “He ran so big in the Derby. I’m not disgusted with the horse, believe me. It happens. It’s horse racing.”
It is not known if Super Saver will be on the horse betting odds board for the Belmont Stakes as of yet but word is its very doubtful.
