Belmont Stakes odds bettors had their Triple Crown hopes dashed when Lookin at Lucky won the Preakness Stakes to end Belmont Stakes betting dreams of the crownless streak ending.
Super Saver won the Kentucky Derby and was immediately installed as a Belmont online Stakes wagering futures favorite to win the Triple Crown but he came up flat and empty at the Preakness Stakes with a eighth place finish.
Super Saver was the horse racing gambling favorite to win the Kentucky Derby but finished a disappointing sixth as he was bumped off the start and trapped inside at the rail in the dreaded number one starting position before a nice recovery that simply was not enough to compensate for all of the lost time at the beginning of the race.
Lookin at Lucky benefited from a controversial jockey switch as Garrett Gomez was relieved of his duties after both the poor showing in the Kentucky Derby and the previous race at the Santa Anita Derby where Lookin at Lucky finished a disappointing third.
Gomez is one of the better known and respected jockeys with those who will bet the Belmont Stakes odds and many felt it was a mistake to replace him with the relatively inexperienced Martin Garcia as trainer Bob Baffert was looking to change the luck. It was a move that worked to perfection.
Lookin at Lucky demonstrated why so many horse racing betting handicappers were impressed with him prior to the Kentucky Derby and why he was a favorite in the Run for the Roses. He was back to his old form with Garcia while Gomez had trouble with is new ride on Dublin and finished fifth.
It is not yet known if Lookin at Lucky will be on the Belmont Stakes odds board for the June 5 race in New York.
The Belmont Stakes field will likely feature both new horses that are fresh and those who have run with the horse betting odds in either one or both of the Triple Crown races.
